    M&A makes up most POSITIVE Angel exits.

    The Cleantech Angel Network is the only one I know in Canada that is committed ONLY to this. That said many groups have cleantech companies in their portfolio.

    Check out your local Angel groups (see: www.angelinvestor.ca) if you do not know any individuals in your own personal networks.

    This one is easy. Use Angelsoft, which many Angel groups use. It is a dealflow management tool for Angel groups. The below article has an example:

• I'm trying to gather some funding for a technology for which I've filed a provisional patent. The manufacturer is willing to work with me but need some funding to get the design started. Could you suggest an organization that can help or any other sources where I can get funding, other than venture capitalists or banks?     Yes! CONII – The Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation. They can generally help up to $30K for proof of principle/prototyping type work. That should get you started! Reach out to them. If you need a contact, let me know.

• Do you think there is enough technology investment in Ontario from within and outside?

    No. Demand for capital by good companies is much greater than visible supply right now. By visible I mean investors that you can identify (i.e. VCs, Angel groups, or prominent angels.) We are a LONG way from the fabled “angel bubble” that is being talked about in the Valley.

• Are there any websites that provide a listing of potential grants for start ups?

    There used to be a few pages, but all the links now seem to be dead. A chap by the name David Waters (I believe) mapped the startup support ecosystem but I cannot seem to find that map. • Bryan. Seems like a lot of companies are raising money...lots of it. Either 1) There will be another crash 2) These numbers really aren't that big and I don't understand how lucrative the ad market has become 3) These companies have some big product (revenue generating) features up their sleeves Please shed some wisdom

    I have to challenge your opening premise, and/or ask where you are based. In most areas I know there isn’t an overwhelming supply of capital flowing to companies. Those that raise big rounds I find often have had great success in the past. Perhaps there is a bit of outcome bias at play here. I.e. You see the 10 or 20 companies that get funded, but not the 1000 or 2000 that are looking. Hope that helps!
