As an early employee in a startup and a corporate refugee, it helps to guage your candidate's desires. Are you competing with a corporation in offering the same position, or is it one that offers more, especially one that has some executive responsibilities or can transition in that direction? If this person's background is technical, have they gained a lot of industry and domain knowledge on top of that, which can make a big difference to your business?
